Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer(CEO), the Finance and Administration Head has broad leadership responsibilities overseeing all finance and operations functions, including Finance, Budgeting, Human Resources, and Administration.

  •  Manage the day-to-day finance operations including Budgeting & Financial Planning, Audit Preparation, Bookkeeping, Financial Reporting & General Accounting.
  • Manage all cash operations including bank reconciliations, and general bookkeeping
  •  Oversee year-end audit by outside accounting firm, and related tax return preparation/financial schedules
  • Maintaining and overseeing the management of all general accounting operations, including accounts receivable and payable, cash receipts, and disbursements.
  •  Create annual budget for Board approval
  •  Manage, people, information and resource; Process payroll, track vacation/sick/personal time for all staff


Required Qualifications

  •  Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; MBA in accounting or related field.
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience, and Finance and Administration role, preferably working with Share Company’s and school system.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS ; current with related changes and updates to such principles and standards.
  • Ability to work in and team or independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  •  Hands-on manager, with strong analytical skills, with close attention to detail and quality control.
  •  An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral, written and interpersonal skills.

Hamona School Share company is established with the moto of making its schools ‘Second Home “for the students. Hamona School S.C is teaching the future generation for Nursery to the level of Grade8 in two campuses.

Now Hamona School S.C is looking for dynamic, devoted and detail oriented General Manager, who will be responsible to manage both campuses.  The incumbent is expected to   

  • Increases management's effectiveness by applying proven School Administration practices and Quality Management system (QMS) best practices
  • Perform assigned duties and responsibilities by board of directors.
  • Have a capability to learn company’s problems in technological, financial, service field & develop strategic planning process to encounter them.
  • Develops strategies and policies to achieve company’s future goals.
  • Organize regular staff meetings and builds an environment in which employees willingly produce maximum work.
  • Develop annual operating budget as well as all project budgets and oversees them.
  • Producing marketing & promotion content and implement it in a planned manner to reach different class of customers.
  • General Manager also responsible for developing sound relationships with stakeholders and community in order to gain mutual benefits.
  • General Manager plans and assigns work to subordinates and monitors them time to time.
  • Plan & review performance activities, results and expectations with employees on regular basis.

General skills:

Strong communication skills, performance & proficiency management, staffing management, time management, coordination, training, financial planning and strategy management, efficient in standards development, sound in decision making and strategic management, positive approach.

Industry Knowledge

  • Should have knowledge of Ethiopian Education system & conversant with relevant laws and regulations
  • Shall be conversant with laws and regulations related to Share company management
  • Have a good understanding of QMS standards and best practices   

Language skills:

  • Amharic is the working language and Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
  • Able to professionally correspond with the clients using business letters, summaries, and reports in English clearly and correctly.
  • Ability to speak English fluently in front of various groups such as customers/employees.

Computer skills:

General Manager should have skills in using computer and hardware related to general manager job such as:

  • MS office (MS word, MS excel).
  • Company issued electronic mail programs such as MS outlook.

Reasoning ability:

  • A General Manager should apply common sense to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or in graph/diagrammatic form.
  • Good mathematical skills & know how to apply it to interpret financial information & budgets preparation.
  • Ability to Read, understand & interpret different documents of business records and statistical reports of company.

General Manager Qualifications:

  • Should have Bachelor degree in related field and Five-year work experience (Minimum) in Management position,
  • Postgraduate is desirable,
